Earlier in the week the radio DJ I listen to in the mornings was holding a survey about which song would drive one to crack under a military siege. Apparently, blasting an annoying song on endless repeat is becoming a popular technique to get suspects to turn themselves in peacefully. I suppose depending on the song it may work. If Lady Gaga were playing non-stop over and over and over (*shudders*), I think I'd give myself up, just so that the music will stop. Or I'd shoot the speakers and all the replacement speakers that follow.

What song(s) and/or artist(s) would be your downfall?

P.S. Nothing really new going on in my life. Work is unpleasant (and exhausting) and I'm still trying to transition into a library (even getting into a volunteer program is a challenge!). I guess the newest item worth mentioning is helping my sister with her wedding: she set a date (September 19th), bought a dress, squeezed her bridesmaids into fru fru dresses (to be fair as one of said bridesmaids, the dress isn't actually much fru fru and very nice and pretty), and booked a ceremony location.

I once got stuck on the It's a Small World ride for two hours. The song drives me to the brink of homicidal rage (but it will for most anyone even without the traumatic experience).

How awful! And thanks...that's the trouble with earworms...even the mention of them sets them a'goin' in my head. So, I'm joining you in about 10 minutes in the rage.

:)

There is a song on a Christmas album otherwise full of beautiful, worshipful songs that is about the frustrations of toy packaging. It was cute once. Now, I have made a Christmas playlist that specifically excludes it because it rapidly got to the super-annoying-why-would-anyone-put-this-on-any-album stage.

And now Toy Packaging has supplanted IASWAA in my brain.

Not sure which is worse.

Also, Sharpie--so sorry about the work woes. :(

Haha, your mention of an annoying Christmas songs just reminded of "Christmas Shoes."

I remember when I was a first year in college. Email was a novelty and it seemed like all my friends and I did then was forward emails. Which, yeah. Anyway, that's how I first encountered "Christmas Shoes." At first, it was a sweet and sentimental story. By the nth time I'd gotten the email in my Inbox, however, it had ceased to have any resemblance of charm. A few years later, someone made a Christmas song out of that same forward! And then about a year or two later, there was a made-for-tv movie about it. It drives me bazonkers every Christmas season.

But then, this past Christmas, I was driving down to my parents to spend the holidays with my entire family, and I don't know what was going on, but the song popped up on the radio and I started getting a little teary-eyed!!!! Haha. I properly horrified myself (and one of my friends, when I told her about it later, as she and I have always bonded over disliking it so much). :P

Mary, I hope we'll get a picture of the bridesmaid dress! Congrats to your sister. Ad hope work/library-related opportunities start looking up.

Bringing up Christmas songs make me think of switching my breaking song. Having worked two Christmases in retail it's difficult to tolerate "Santa Baby". I can't even consider it. I might have nightmares now.

IASWAA would drive Mother Theresa to tears.

Can't think of a particular song right now, but yesterday on the commute to work, there was a guy playing jazz on his ibook, with totally insufficient (?) headphones, so everybody had to listen along.
This music was real noise!!!
